Małgorzata Markiewicz, Ja Naprawiaczka, Bródno Sculpture Park, MSN, Warsaw, 22 August – 30 September 2020
For the 12th chapter of the Sculpture Park, entitled An open field for imagination, artists were invited to draw up scenarios for the functioning of cultural and art institutions that adapt to the changing reality.
During the residency, Małgorzata Markiewicz looks at the possibility of producing other economic models based on repairing rather than manufacturing. The artist encourages us to keep our things alive: ‘It’s about realizing that our clothes are not alienated entities, we need to acknowledge and realize that they are part of a larger process, from creation to decay’
‘For the Sculpture Park, I would like to propose myself as a repairer , I could, sitting in the Tea House, take damaged clothes from the residents of Bródno and repair them, while discussing new potential scenarios and challenges facing us in the era called by DJ Haraway Chthulucene. In the process of work, a spatial web / fabric would be created. I could watch over the repair by teaching people or learning repair methods from them.’
